How My Foster Care Advocacy Prepares Me to Lead Arlington Heights
Public service is about advocacy, leadership, and making real change—not just for a select few, but for the entire community.
That’s exactly what I’ve been doing through my appointment to the Statewide Foster Care Advisory Council, and it’s the kind of leadership I will bring to Arlington Heights as Village Trustee.
This role isn’t just a title—it’s a responsibility to children, families, and communities across Illinois. As a council member, I work alongside government agencies, community leaders, and advocacy groups to improve policies and systems that directly impact vulnerable populations.
The skills and experience I’ve gained in this role directly translate to my ability to serve as Village Trustee, where collaboration, thoughtful decision-making, and a commitment to equitable solutions are essential.
Collaboration That Drives Real Solutions
Strong leadership doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens when people come together with a shared vision and commitment to change.
As a member of the Statewide Foster Care Advisory Council, I have:
Worked alongside government officials, nonprofit organizations, and advocates to address systemic challenges in foster care policy.
Built consensus among diverse stakeholders, balancing perspectives to create solutions that benefit families and children.
Navigated complex regulations and policies, ensuring that decisions are informed by both real-world experience and data-driven research.
In Arlington Heights, I will take this same approach—working with residents, local businesses, and community leaders to find solutions that strengthen our village and ensure that every voice is heard.
Advocating for Equitable Solutions That Benefit Everyone
The foster care system is complicated, and it takes deep commitment and persistence to push for meaningful change. The same is true for local governance—every issue, from housing to public safety to economic development, requires leadership that prioritizes fairness, inclusion, and long-term impact.
My work on the council has reinforced my ability to:
Advocate for policies that put people first, ensuring that decisions are rooted in community needs and not political agendas.
Address challenges with both compassion and accountability, understanding that leadership means making tough but necessary choices.
Find proactive, community-centered solutions that don’t just react to problems but prevent them from happening in the first place.
As Village Trustee, I will fight for policies that reflect the needs of all residents—not just a select few.
“I believe in a village where families, business owners, and individuals alike feel supported, safe, and heard.”
Making Informed, Data-Driven Decisions
Too often, decisions in government are made based on short-term thinking or political pressure. But my experience on the Statewide Foster Care Advisory Council has taught me the importance of making informed choices based on research, real-world impact, and community input.
I analyze policies through both a data-driven and human-centered lens, ensuring that decisions benefit our community in the long run.
I believe in transparency and accountability, ensuring that leadership decisions are clear, logical, and in the best interest of residents.
I am committed to problem-solving through facts, research, and listening to those directly affected by policy changes.
This is the leadership I will bring to Arlington Heights—practical, fact-based governance that prioritizes the well-being of our residents.
