More exciting news! Carina has officially been endorsed by the Journal and Topics Media Group in her race for Arlington Heights Village Trustee!

Arlington Heights voters on April 1 will be asked to select four of eight candidates running for village board. Early voting is underway.

Our recommendations are for candidates Jim Bertucci, Carina Santa Maria, Greg Zyck, and Colin Gilbert. Terms of office are for four years.

Bertucci, already serving on the board as a trustee, knows the village well having lived in the community for 40 years. His experience as a certified professional planner and licensed investment planner should continue to serve the village well.

With proper reserves and a commitment from the board to keep taxes reasonable, Bertucci says he expects the village’s financial health to remain strong and sustainable.

Santa Maria has a good pulse on the community having lived in town for over a decade and as CEO of local nonprofit Shelter, Inc.

Santa Maria seems committed to building an inclusive, thriving and sustainable community, especially as a first-generation American, the daughter of immigrants, and as a social worker. She would bring diversity to the village board, which is needed. She had advocated for affordable housing options, improving access to resources for families, and prioritizing public safety while fostering a sense of unity among neighbors.

Zyck has a degree in marketing, which could be an asset when it comes time to promote the village even more — especially if the Bears relocate to Arlingtton heights.

For the last 12 years, Zyck has served on the board of trustees for the Arlington Heights Memorial Library. Additionally, he has served six years on the housing commission for the village. He has emphasized he has no other political goals or agendas.

Gilbert’s law experience as an attorney will be crucial for the village in the next four years. Not only does he have a legal mind that could be an asset to the board, he grew up in the area graduating from Hersey High School.

Gilbert said his decision to run stems from a commitment to improving the community and ensuring that Arlington Heights remains a vibrant, thriving place for all residents. He is focused on fiscal responsibility, creating safe and inclusive spaces for families, and enhancing the overall quality of life.

With just weeks until Election Day, now is the time to show your support! Share this post, tell your neighbors, and most importantly—vote for Carina Santa Maria for Village Trustee!
